Architettura fertile (Fertile Architecture)

by Michele De Lucchi and AMDL CIRCLE

[Concept]

Reflecting on time raises questions about the future and the human condition, which in architecture inevitably influence design choices. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and many architects of the modern era have built monuments that defy time, aspiring to last forever. Today, however, the planet is overcrowded, and the need to build can no longer aim for eternity. We need an architecture that embraces temporality, participates in the continuous evolution of life, and integrates with its unstoppable flow.

Michele De Lucchi and AMDL CIRCLE propose the concept of Fertile Architecture, not designed for eternity but to be part of the ecosystem. This reflection is at the heart of the professional and research projects presented at Orticolario, such as the Fornetta, a house built without the use of glue, chemicals, and cement; the Pedrali Pavilion, an agile, functional, and temporary exhibition architecture; and the Leaveitbe, circles traced on the ground that define a space free from human intervention, restoring a value we often neglect. A video narrates the Satellite Stations, small wooden architectural structures that gradually integrate with the environment, showing the traces of time and weather phenomena until they become nourishment for nature itself.
