How did your story begin?<\/strong>
My roots lie in the soil of vegetable gardens, in woodlands, in my grandparents\u2019 teachings, and in a daily relationship with nature\u2014formative experiences that gradually strengthened my passion for the plant world. This interest guided my academic and professional choices, leading me to obtain a diploma as an Agricultural Expert and, later, to start a green maintenance business in 2003. A serious accident marked a turning point in my path, steering me towards landscape design. I therefore undertook an international specialization path, spending five years in the Netherlands as Head Designer, where I deepened my knowledge of naturalistic design methodologies. In 2019, I returned to Italy, founding my own practice and dedicating myself to the creation of naturalistic gardens inspired by the Dutch Wave approach.<\/p>

Who are the people who have most inspired you artistically and professionally?<\/strong>
In both artistic and professional terms, my journey has been deeply influenced by international figures such as Piet Oudolf, Nigel Dunnett, and Noel Kingsbury, pioneers of naturalistic design and ecological landscape thinking. Their research, both published and applied in significant design contexts, has represented a fundamental methodological model for my professional development.
However, I also recognise that the contemporary garden design landscape includes many highly talented and skilled professionals: for this reason, selecting additional names is difficult, as inspiration can emerge from multiple sources, each bringing distinct sensibilities and approaches.<\/p>

How does nature inspire your projects and lifestyle?<\/strong>
Nature is the generative principle that guides both my design approach and my personal life. In the conception of every project, I prioritise a deep observation of the landscape context, from which I draw its essential constitutive elements. My aim is to understand the ecological dynamics of the environment in order to interpret and translate them into a design language, allowing nature itself to guide compositional choices.
On a personal level, Zen philosophy represents a fundamental pillar: it has allowed me to establish a harmonious balance between private life and profession, an inner synthesis that permeates and guides my daily work, ensuring coherence between lived values and created spaces.<\/p>

How do you imagine your \u201cmental landscape\u201d when you create? Are there any real or imagined places that guide you?<\/strong>
My mental landscape is a synthesis of real experiences and imaginative visions. The process begins with careful empathy towards the client\u2019s expectations, in order to interpret their deepest needs. In parallel, I carry out an analytical observation of the site, supported by detailed photographic documentation. I then allow space for the intuitive phase: through mental simulations and compositional hypotheses, I explore different solutions, questioning the potential of each element within the space.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Is there a recurring dream \u2013 or idea \u2013 that keeps returning in your work?<\/strong>
Rather than a recurring dream, I prefer to define it as a constant guiding principle: the pursuit of maximum naturalness. My aim is for the garden to integrate harmoniously with its surrounding environment, becoming an organic part of the place.Within this vision, the human hand must remain perceptible as a sign of care and design, yet discreet\u2014almost concealed among plant species\u2014allowing nature itself to express its evocative power.<\/p>

If your way of designing were a dream, what kind of scenario would it be? Lucid, epic, silent, or collective?<\/strong>
I imagine it as a tribute to the essential nature of things, a scenario dominated by stillness and reflection.

What does Avant Gardening mean to you?<\/strong>
The concept of \u201cAvant gardening\u201d represents for me a methodological approach capable of combining the wisdom of tradition with a forward-looking vision. It means drawing on historical knowledge without renouncing innovation, in order to promote increasingly sustainable practices that respect ecological balance. It is an ethical as well as technical evolution, where landscape care becomes a responsibility towards future generations.<\/p>

At Orticolario 2026.<\/strong>
What emotion or feeling do you hope people experience when they encounter your project?<\/strong>
I aim to evoke an emotional experience articulated in three key moments: surprise, discovery, and stillness. I hope the visitor is initially captured by the visual impact, characterised by vivid chromatic and formal expressiveness.
However, beyond this apparent vitality, I wish the intimate nature of the space to emerge: a dynamic place which, at the same time, offers a refuge of peace, where one can experience deep well-being and complete inner calm.<\/p>

If your project were music, what would it be?<\/strong>
A Japanese lo-fi composition. This genre has the quality of being deeply soothing, fostering a state of contemplative calm without renouncing a clear and coherent sonic identity. I believe this duality faithfully reflects my approach to the garden: a place that invites immediate relaxation, yet is supported by a strong, recognisable, and richly distinctive design structure.<\/p>

Manuel Rosin was born in Trieste on March 2, 1983.<\/p>

After completing his studies as an agricultural expert, he earned a diploma in garden design from the \u201cNuova Accademia del Design\u201d in Verona. With nearly 25 years of professional experience, including 5 years as lead designer in the Netherlands at All Seasons Hoveniers, for the past 7 years he has been designing and maintaining naturalistic gardens inspired by the Dutch Wave movement in Italy and abroad.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
