GAZEBO LAGO / VIA ALLA DARSENA
Per un giardino nomade (For a nomadic garden)
by Simbiosi studio
[Concept]
A botanical installation that represents the original place: that primordial space-time concept, both originating and ancestral, which—since the dawn of humanity and regardless of the various names attributed to it—takes the form of the garden.
After a long wandering through distant and unexplored places, the contemporary nomad finds rest and grounding in the garden itself—a primeval place where one can exorcise the fears evoked by the unknown.
Per un giardino nomade embraces and expresses the increasingly urgent need for an alliance between humans and nature—one in which nature sets the rules and humans follow.
Various kokedama, made with wild edible plants of different sizes, rise at the center of a circular area, defined in its geometry and scale by spontaneous vegetation of various kinds. A place to return to, a secret to carry with you.
Kokedama is an ancient method of plant cultivation that is based on the attentive bond that humans establish with nature. It represents an image of care for nature that, in today’s frenetic world, reconnects humans with the earth, its needs, and its rhythms.
This technique—which involves hand-shaping a ball of soil wrapped in moss around a plant’s roots, allowing it to grow within—has a striking visual and sensory impact: it is not just a vessel for plant life but a true work of art that tells of a loving dialogue between humans and the environment, inviting deep reflection on sustainability and organic beauty.
Kokedama is medium, connection, creation, rebirth, form, and tool.
