Let’s start from the roots, how does your story begin?
O: It all started from a drawing. As a child I discovered that if you draw a wish then it comes true. Over time I realized that what you draw can be accomplished. That’s how my passion for art and architecture was born.
Who are the people who have inspired you artistically and professionally?
O: In the past, I was very attracted to the artist Alberto Burri, particularly his environmental art work Grande Cretto in Sicily inspired me a lot on the theme of the relationship between art, nature and history. Today, however, I feel like a “professional visitor.” I love to visit contemporary art installations and exhibitions where I find inspiration to address different issues in both life and work.
How does nature inspire your projects and lifestyle?
For us, nature is a source of inspiration in design. It is essential to spend a lot of time on the project site, evaluating the potential that the terrain offers us, discovering the surrounding vegetation, and above all studying the movements of natural light, with the goal of developing a complete design that respects the landscape.
Living near Lake Como, we consider ourselves privileged to be in constant contact with nature on a daily basis. We always find a time in the day to stop and admire the beauty of the lake.
The trip you most want to take.
One of our next destinations is South America, to visit the architecture of ancient civilizations, learn how to live in close contact with nature and admire unique natural landscapes. Peru in particular, with a desire to reach the colorful mountain Vinicunca and walk in a rainbow of colors between earth and sky.
If you could be the main character in a movie, which one would you choose?
O: Among all of them, I would undoubtedly choose La dolce vita by master Fellini. Sometimes I feel like I am reliving the same scenes in my personal life.
If you could make a tribute to the earth (soil), what would it be?
We would like to find a free moment to be able to make a small contribution to beach cleanup to limit the continued pollution of the land.
If your project were music, what track would it be?
N: Music is a very strong component that accompanies our personal and professional lives on a daily basis. The park of Villa Erba, the mountains in the background, the movement of the lake and the hills of the project Hills Garden emerging from the meadow, remind me of the song Sail by the alternative rock band Awolnation, hymn to the Hope and perseverance in difficulties, never to be forgotten in life and in defending our planet.
Which plant do you reflect yourself in and why?
N: In theĀ Agave, a plant that is very resistant to the elements and able to give multiple benefits.
O: I am fascinated by the Lotus Flower because of its ability to bloom in all its beauty from mud, a symbol of rebirth and purity of soul.
What does Avant gardening mean to you?
We think that avantĀ gardening is a way of viewing the garden as a super organism of different plant species and natural elements interacting with each other to create a unique and sustainable ecosystem.
Five words for you closely related to the concept of land (soil).
Nature, history, energy, fertility, irreplaceable resource.
