Vegetable Printing Workshop
NATURA CROMATICA
with Giuditta Canuto, expert in pigments and vegetable dyeing
Sunday, October 6, 16:45
Spazio Gardenia, Ala Cernobbio
Paid event* with reservation required
Flowers, leaves, roots. The plant world becomes art in a canvas of vegetable fabric. Through experience and artistic experimentation, the qualities of the plants used are highlighted, along with the reason for their dyeing potential. The meeting goes beyond the technique of botanical printing, delving deep into the world of dye plants and discovering that even the metals accumulated by plants during phytoremediation can greatly aid in color stabilization.
Each participant will take home their handmade creation at the end of the workshop.
Bio
Giuditta Canuto lives and works in Serra de’ Conti and has been focusing on vegetable color since 2022. Her interest in educating others about vegetable color comes from her work in violin making, where she used natural pigments for years in restoration. The colors she uses on fabric or paper come exclusively from plants she cultivates, locally harvested whenever possible, and from food waste. Her project is based on the circularity and organic nature of raw materials, aiming for a sustainable and mindful approach.
*The event is one of the activities supporting the “Amici di Orticolario” Fund.
