Apnea

project by Roberto Ducoli / Il papavero blu

//Piazza del Grande Prato

[Concept]

A space that slowly emerges from the shadows, like an image arising from the threshold of sleep.

Nothing reveals itself immediately: perception is built through soft glimmers, reflections, elusive depths, and presences that seem to appear and dissolve in the same instant. References become uncertain, boundaries expand, and the observer is invited to abandon habitual orientation and enter a suspended dimension.

At the heart of this landscape, an octopus emerges, an enigmatic and magnetic presence. Suspended like an apparition rising from the depths of imagination, it seems to inhabit two worlds simultaneously: the tangible world of matter and the fluid world of dreams. A creature of metamorphosis, intelligence, and mystery, the octopus becomes a symbol of what eludes definition, of a form of knowledge that is not attained through rationality but through intuition.

Its tentacles spread through space like invisible currents, tracing paths that attract the gaze while also disorienting it. Each line seems to suggest a direction, yet none leads to a precise destination. The space behaves like an underwater depth: mutable, silent, traversed by slow and imperceptible movements.

Time slows down. Sounds fade. The gaze is invited to move with the caution and attentiveness of someone exploring an unknown seabed, in apnea. The experience becomes a form of sensory immersion, a passage in which nature and imagination intertwine until they become indistinguishable.

A few questions to Roberto Ducoli

How did your story begin?

The story of Il papavero blu comes from the encounter between two complementary visions: imagination and matter, drawing and land.
We combine a free graphic language, at times surreal, traversed by zoomorphic forms and instinctive suggestions, with a concrete expertise in the care and construction of natural spaces.
Everything begins with a drawing, with a vision that opens unexpected possibilities and seeks to give form to what remains suspended between dream and nature.
The aspiration that drives our work is “logotherapy,” a free dialogue that takes shape and meaning when art and technique enter into relationship…
